"When I first stepped onto campus, I could feel a sense of community. I knew Marywood was where I would pursue my education."
Lizzy Bednar (Class of 2018) studies nutrition and dietetics at Marywood, the first step toward her goal of obtaining her master's degree and working with children as a hospital dietitian. Yet without the help of Marywood and our generous donors, Lizzy may not have been able to pursue her dreams of helping others.
"Scholarships cover more than half of my tuition," Lizzy said. "I would not be able to attend Marywood if I did not receive scholarships."
Lizzy realizes the importance of those who support Marywood and how they have allowed her to pursue her studies. In response, she makes an effort to be active with the university, including her role as Vice President of the Student Alumni Association.
"I am grateful for this opportunity," Lizzy said. "We help one another at Marywood. This motivates me to pay it forward and make a difference."
Lizzy said donors to Marywood not only help financially - they inspire students like herself.
"By donating to the Marywood Scholarship Fund, you demonstrate that you believe in me and my fellow classmates, even though you don't personally know us. Your gifts inspire a confidence in us - that there are individuals looking out for future generations."
