Marywood’s architecture programs—undergraduate and graduate—recognize that architecture, both as a discipline and as a profession, engages the realms of art and science. Buildings and other physical spaces created by architects combine design innovation and aesthetic with the laws of gravity and the requirements of constructability. Architects create unique and highly inventive realities that emphasize organization, proportion, and beauty, as well as material properties, budgets and structural systems.Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.)
This accredited degree option focuses on acquiring the skills needed to be eligible to become a licensed architect, such as designing buildings and understanding their impact on physical, aesthetic, social, and ecological environments.
Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture (B.E.D.A.)
The B.E.D.A. is a pre-professional degree that follows the first four years of the B.Arch. curriculum but with the option to substitute some advanced professionally oriented courses with courses from other areas of the curriculum or other university course offerings.

Only the B.Arch. degree makes you eligible to become a licensed architect. It also enables you to pursue a professional degree at the master's level or begin a career in a number of related professions.
The B.E.D.A. degree, on the other hand, allows you to engage in architecture as a non-licensed practitioner. It, too, enables you to pursue a master's degree or begin a career in a number of related professions.
