Opposite Gender Visitation for Residents
Policy Statement
Twenty-four hour visitation is permitted in common areas of all residence facilities. Opposite gender guests are permitted to visit residents in their personal rooms from 12:00 noon to 1:00 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday, and from 12:00 noon to 2:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Residents of facilities designated as "specialty housing" are privileged to participate in a self-determined policy for opposite gender visitation for personal rooms.
Specific rules govern opposite gender visitation for specialty housing:
- Residents must meet the standards required by the Office of Housing and Residence Life to reside in specialty housing.
- At the beginning of every semester, a plurality of votes of all residents of each specialty housing facility will determine whether to adopt the opposite gender visitation privilege for the facility during the semester.
- If a plurality of residents adopts the privilege for the facility, all residents who wish to designate their personal room(s)/suite(s) as a self-directed opposite gender visitation environment must read and sign a "roommate contract."
- A resident may nullify the self-directed visitation privileges within his/her personal room after consultation with the Housing and Residence Life staff.
Definitions
Specialty housing includes Emmanuel Hall, Immaculata Hall, McCarty Hall, and Woodland Apartments.
A roommate contract is an agreement between roommates that permits whatever schedule of visitation hours they select within their personal room(s)
Procedures
